....in the Major League Baseball draft for 2008.

OK,ok, what is the big deal you ask?

One word...Baseball.

Where I live, baseball is very heavily played. Between Little league, Pony league, High School teams, the two college teams, travel teams, tournament teams, and the Jet Hawks down the street, and the Dodger MLB team, there is a lot of baseball played where I live.

Because of our fair weather here in California, we play baseball all year long.

There are several scouts that live here, several ex MLB players that live and work here, and now several future stars.

I sit on the Board of Directors at Hart Pony Baseball and Softball League, the second largest Pony league in the nation, and it is a warm fuzzy feeling to know that the kids that I meet and coach and take pictures of, someday may be a major league baseball star.

The following is from the website.

Former Hart Pony players drafted in MLB Draft 2008
Congratulations to our former Hart Pony baseball players who were
drafted in the 2008 MLB First Year Player Draft the past two days:

Michael Montgomery (Hart HS) - KC Royals
Michael Hebert (Saugus HS) - NY Mets
Shawn Smith (Saugus HS) - Tampa Bay Rays
Tommy Milone (Saugus HS/USC) - Washington Nationals
Travis Babin (Saugus HS/Sonoma St.) - NY Mets
Steven Susdorf (Hart HS) - Philadelphia Phillies
Virgil Hill (Valencia HS/Mission College) - Oakland Athletics
Jared Clark (Valencia HS/CSU Fullerton) - LA Angels

All of these players were players here from Pinto thru Pony leagues. This is an extraordinary feat to be drafted into professional baseball, however for 8 players from the Santa Clarita Valley and from Hart Pony baseball is a testament to the quality of baseball in our valley and here at Hart Pony baseball.

Best of luck in their future professional endeavors!
