DQ'd....................... :O(
score was only 4.65, hardly worth teh effort. Still at least it gets wiped off my running average
Lesson to self......"stop trying to be different....." |

so you have to DQ if you want to take your image out of the running? :( (I'm contemplating it at this point)

There's nothing wrong with trying something different. The only problem with going outside the box is that sometimes the other people in the box don't want to go with you.

I was checking my score on a CRT and found out my submission looked really dark there. I then realized many voters aren't getting the full impact of my work because of the calibration of each monitor. I won't digress but here's a previous thread on the subject. Monitor Calibration
Anyway, back to the topic at hand

snip . .
edit: i actually marked 43 with a 5 or lower... |
There are only 88 shots and you've marked 43 with a 5 or lower . . . ?
I always try and balance sub 5's with 6+'s.

up date. lots of comments, thats always nice. so far im basically really happy im scoring so well, but it upsets me that there are so many others scoring quite low. i though most of the images in this challenge were quite good, i think i only had maybe 15-20 with a 5 or lower(thats just off the the top of my head, i cant rememebr exactly.
it just seems strange...
edit: i actually marked 43 with a 5 or lower... |
honestly i'm not all that surprised - but more dissapointed since you initially took only 3 seconds per image or less to vote the 1st time around- sadly i think that's how most of the voters in this challenge are voting
-the keyboard voting style IMO is only useful for downing scores speeding thru voting and or getting people past that 20% in a rush without the need to look at images for more than a few seconds that it takes to load :(

You are only using half the voting range. Basically you are saying that all are above average. I clearly saw a few that were poor images technically and a few that were borderline DNMC.
It doesn't really matter how you vote as long as you are consistent, and as long JDubsgirlis also consistent it doesn't matter how she votes. |

You have rated 87 of 88 images (99%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 4 images (5%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 5.5057.
I pretty much used the whole scale for my votes. And for the love of all that is good let us not revisit the DNMC stuff again. I'm still worn out from that debate. And if someone really wants to go back into it? There's a looooooong thread on it. (which I am now ignoring)

hey I saw your site on one of your photos- are you mainly shooting straight out of the camera out of curiousity? going for the creative blurr effect on some diffrent lighting on others? using natural light etc and no PP?

*will be OK with my image reaching a 5 and holding steady with it* is none-too pleased at the thought that there are probably 1's on an image that fully fits the challenge |

That happens all the time and is nothing to get worked up about. Even images that ribbon will often get a 1.
Some suspect it's from the photo class students who's teacher requires them to go vote on photos for class and they don't care so they just vote 1 on everything. Don't let it get to you. |

i guess ill update my score, its gotten to the point where its just stopped moving around very much
edit: oh, and how do you know when exactly someone gives you a 1 besides a drop in score. is there a program that tracks what scores you are getting throughout the challenge?

I use a Excel spreadsheet to calculate my scores. You type in the total votes and average and it will tell you what the average vote has been. When the voting is slow you are often entering each vote individually so you can then know exactly what vote was given.
In the community pages there is a link to a spreadsheet that does the calculations. It's the 4th program down in the list.

4 more comments for the highest number of comments I have ever received during voting. (And that was for the colorful macro challenge where all the comments were just guesses what I shot).
I'm glad people are enjoying my shot anyways. :)
edit: corrected my first sentence
