These are two I really enjoy playing - though not as hard/fast as the ones you posted.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps

Cowboys from Hell

Pantera have a few pretty cool metal riffs... this was one of my favourites when i was playing the guitar.

WARNING: Flashing lights, swearing and because it is a Pantera gig, most probably boobies from the crowd... ;)

Well when i see the word "riff" i dont really think of things like clean guitar sounding "rock" riffs... i instantly think of things like metal riffs and they are often the most simple, catchy and more "powerful" - Whole lotta love being pretty much the epitome (not that Led Zepplin is metal but you get what i mean).

Although Smoke on the Water does have it's place in my heart

I had the same thought at first, but those are "Licks". I found a wicked Frank Zappa Spanks Stevie Vai video on you tube that 8 minutes of Licks between the two. Then I remembered a Riff is the foundation of a song. Licks can be played on top of Riffs.

Here's one that's easy and fun to play. Play it after you see the movie. :)

Could a female senior law enforcement officer who plays the guitar play a she-riff?

Stinkfoot

Cosmicdebris

He has a multitude of better guitar solos but I can't find any on Youtube. His wife, Gail, has total control of copyrights to all his stuff and sues anybody who infringes them. I still miss this man.

I don't know this guy, and his recording isn't so great, but the solo in Avenged Sevenfold - Bat Country is awesome.

This song needs more kittens and Vikings.

On a serious note, this Alice in Chains song has a great riff.

Yeah, just about everything they did is a riff masterpiece.

One of my best friends in the world, his son Forrest Kyle rocks...trust me, this kid is aces. A talent who started young, writing his own music. Models himself after Eddy Van Halen, Carlos Santana...have a listen on his myspace. The kid rocks, and is one of the best guitar players I have ever had a chance to listen to...
