Do you have one? If so, what do you think of it? If you bought this over something else or the other way around, why did you make that choice? Did you consider the 850SW when you bought the 1030SW? If so, what choice did you make and why? And last but not least, what point and shoot would you recommend for someone who's looking for just a general purpose "fun" camera? I don't care so much about manual functions, I have an SLR for that so I would just like something with decent image quality, a decent flash, and not something with a ridiculous amount of noise. This one just stuck out at me because of it's everything-proof nature. Just curious as to what the users think of it after using it.

Thanks!

You're probably looking for personal experience from users here but dpreview is always a good start when looking for a new camera.

Thanks for the response. I have already looked at dpreview but I am looking for personal experience or other suggestions on what to get based on personal experience and results.

My sister bought one of these and she's delighted with it. I haven't laid hands on it myself, she's 3000 miles away, but she's had a few small digicams over the last 4 years and she says this one is the best by far, for whatever that's worth. She's not a serious photographer, but I did get her into Photoshop country and she dabbles a little. She knows what good images look like because she's been getting big prints from me for years.

I have its little brother, the 850. I got it through a prize catalog at work so I didn't compare the two.

I have been very happy with it for what it is - a compact, highly durable camera I can carry around in my briefcase or pocket.

Here's a shot I entered in a recent challenge:

I have had a blast with it in the backyard pool. Probably will take it to the beach this weekend.

Thanks guys. Looks like I'll have a new toy next week. First thing I'm gonna do is throw it in a pool. :)
