I do alot of studio work with strobes and I was wondering do I need to go ahead and buy a light meter to make my portraits better!! I am researching and studying the difference between Incident and Reflected metering!! Please help! I was thinking about the Sekonic L-358

I have the 358. Wonderful piece of kit that I never knew I needed until I had one. Very versatile, ambient and incident light, triggered flash, multiple ISO and averaging functions. Thoroughly recommended.

I have this one

More basic than some of the others mentioned in this thread, but it's easy to use and works flawlessly. Makes it much faster and easier to set up the strobes.

Absolutely, if you work with multiple strobes you want a strobe meter. I'd call it essential if you're serious about your work.

I bought this one for 90 bucks on Ebay, used of course, and i'm so happy that I got it instead of the 300 dollar Sekonic. I bought other stuff with the money I saved. :D

Search Ebay, you might get lucky.

I have the Sekonic L358, it's very nice and unless you know that you need some of the advanced features, I wouldn't bother spending more.

I used to have a Minolta Flashmeter IV back when that was the state of the art.
