Mouse. Yup mine went bonkers last night and I was wondering, before I head off to buy another, is there a mouse that is more adapted to Photoshop or just any photographic software in general? What do the pros use in photo retouching shops besides their 4,000$ tablets? If indeed they use a mouse at all. Then, what do the DPC pros use around these parts?

Any recommendations for a mouse before I go off and buy another Logitech? This one lasted 3.5 years, it was a X700.

I use a Logitech G5 Laser mouse. It's more adapted towards gaming in that you can change the weight and feel of it to your liking but it does very well for Photoshop. It is very accurate and comfortable to hold for long periods of time. You can also change the sensitivity of the mouse on the fly by using the buttons on it. I would highly recommend getting one. Yours for around $40-50 depending on where you get it from.

what the Tooth Fairy said....and....and...the Wacom tablets often come w/a mouse should you choose that over the pen. I use both! :P (And my pictures show the crappiness, too!) Tablets are not that expensive anymore.

I actually have a Bamboo tablet and I like it fine but I want a good mouse too. The mouse that came with the Bamboo can only be used on the tablet so it's not a replacement for an ordinary mouse.

I'll give the G5 mouse a look SamDoe1. Thanks all.

I use MS Wireless Laser Mouse 8000. It has a few quirks, but I really like it. I could never previously get used to wireless mice before, but this one is perfect for me. Been using it at work and home for a year or more now.

Cool thanks Louis, I'll take a gander at that one too at the local FS or BB when I do get over there later tonight or tomorrow.

I use a Logitech MX Laser, a programmable 8 button mouse, and a Wacom tablet with my Mac. Because I like the speed of the curser with my mouse, in my opinion, the Wacom mouse "ain't worth a damn;" it lives in the drawer.

I like the bigger ergonomic ones. The more crooked and twisted it looks, the more comfortable it is to use.

Even the Wacom Graphire tablets are pretty good. I use mine for everything (photo work, general "mousing"; I'm actually holding the pen at the same time as I type ten-fingered) - the only time the mouse gets any use is when my girlfriend wants to use my computer.

I ended up buying the Logitech VX Revolution cordless laser mouse. Yes, I know it's a notepad mouse but it felt so darn good in my small hands I just had to buy it. My last mouse was big and I had to keep my hand in an awkward position and that caused stress in my hand which I still suffer from today. This little baby has a lower profile than my old mouse and I think it'll help in the long run. We'll see. Also, this one has 2 side buttons on the left side of the mouse, which I got so used to with my other mouse.

What do you do with a dead mouse, do you bury it or throw it away?
