I feel great this morning!! It has to be because of not entering this challenge and not having to look at my horrible score all day. :)

Unfortunately, there were 15 clear DNMC in this one... so they obviously all received 1s. Some VERY VERY good photos in that lot too, but the challenge is the challenge.

Sorry Wolfie, but our counts don't match, I spotted:
7 - no person
2 - no person but with dog
2 - no mask, but optical effect
1 - person holding, not wearing
1 - Metaphorical mask
6 - no mask, but only make up

19 total potential DNMC's

Oops, forgot to add my "no person" entry.

why do you consider these DNMC? Sherpet says very near the beginning of this thread that the Site Council determined that just having a mask in the image would be sufficient.

Why not be creative in your interpretation, as so many of the photographers were in this challenge, rather than just narrowly following a limited view of what the challenge states?

Dave

I agree 100% plus I will add this. There is no need to come into threads and try to influence how others vote by stating how many DNMC entries you think there are. You're unfortunately putting some images in a corner that you and only you have targeted. Stop trying to influence voters and stop ruining the fun for many here please.

Also when you blast the voters, or start telling the voters that they suck at how they vote on an image and that they're anal, or just don't know crap, or are ignoring the challenge rules bla bla bla. Do you know that the voters are paying members of this site AND they are participating in the challenges? My point? Stop bashing the voters for how they vote, they are paying members just like you and I. It's the person above you in this thread. It's the person you ask advice from. It's the person who gives it. Why do I constantly see this bashing of the ignorant voter?

If you are seeing 19 out 90 images as DNMC? You may want to expand your point of view on what does meet the challenge...

That aside, why do people read challenge descriptions like they are legally binding agreements? They are guidelines. This challenge said that the mask had to be worn. If I put the thing on my butt and then "smile and say cheese" I am still wearing it. The challenge description never said it had to be worn by a person. It said masks are worn to cover the face. Dogs have faces.

That doesn't mean there isn't any DNMC entries and a lot of the ones pointed out I can see a case for. I just think that if you are going through and seeing yourself calling a lot of shots DNMC then you should take a moment to double check your perceptions and see if you can expand your interpretation.

photograph someone wearing it

Someone means person.

And some consider their dog as someone. You can disagree with that but you can also be open to that interpretation.

um hey, you guys are making this no fun at all. can you just agree to disagree on how to vote? of course there are going to be people who vote differently than you do, but you all dont have to have conniption fits on the forum... cant this just be a little bit fun?

Meeting the challenge topic is not a rule, however keeping an open mind to other interpretations IS.

Tell me then how I should alternately interpret "WEARING" and "PERSON" -- oh yeah, you cannot.

I can't? If a see a person holding a mask in a photo, I can readily imagine that the person is wearing a mask at that photo shoot. I can also easily interpret someone holding a mask in front of his face as a demonstration of the mask he wears. Narrow interpretations of the topic are wearing thin on me (even if they're not physically attached).

My dog certainly considers himself someone . . I really need to talk to him about it . .

Mind you, he's way too proud to wear things - he's a dog you know, a dog darnit !!

Sorry back to the main topic :- )

PS can we start a new thread for the scores ? this one started as a general discussion and seems to have gone back there.

just to add - I do have sympathy with Hawkeye's feelings - but whats new ? Around here you wouldn't even get an alphabet challenge followed to the letter ;- )

The only answer is in the individuals votes - some will vote high regardless of whether there is a connection, some will only vote is there is a clear attempt to follow the challenge rules, and most float somewhere in between.

c'est la vie . .

Let's get back to the important bit and try to enjoy ourselves :- )

I was only being succinct, as many of the photos Hawkeye's calling DNMC seem to fit that description. I don't have an entry in this challenge.
