Ok, its about time for me to ask a stupid question about CS2, Adobe Photoshop.

So, I opened photoshop today, I have not messed with settings or changed any workflow procedures. However each image I drop into photoshop automatically lights. Which, it ads tons of noise. Dark blue is light blue, blacks are mid grays and it is really buggin me.

I have no idea why it does this. The images I am dropping into it are 350dpi Jpg, straight convert from Raw using Digital Photo Professional.

Any help?

Try:

Help! How to stop CS3 Bridge auto edit

or:

Adobe Bridge Preview - help please

That is, if you're talking about Bridge changing things...

If not, then I have no clue :(

** Wait, it's most likely a colour profile issue. The jpgs might be saved in the wrong profile? Have a look in Edit > Color settings to see if it's sRGB - if it's not then change it to that profile.

Nope I do not use Bridge, nor SC3 )-; Thanks for the look though.

What I do is drag the image from the folder and drop it right into the workspace. JPG. It just started doing it tonight. It is really frustrating trying to edit things.

Folder view (slideshow) Looks the way it supposed to. The Right Click Preview (windows picture fax viewer) it looks right.

All silly technology . Can I cry now?

lol

Have you checked the Color Settings yet? It must be reading it as something other than sRGB.
05/29/2008 09:37:36 PM · #9
Just went through again and everything looks correct, sRGB and stuff.

Ok, now this is really bizzar.

I did a screen capture with the folder view and the photoshop open image so you can see what I am talking about.

I opened a new file and pasted the screen shot into it. It lightened that as well. However when I went to save for web it was darker again. I think I am losing my mind.

Check the Proof Set up. Maybe it's set to CMYK??
05/29/2008 09:47:34 PM · #12
See if proof colors under the view menu is checked and if it is set to cmyk or something other than monitor rgb.

Edit: Too slow...

Not good :/ I have CS2 and hope it doesn't start happening to me. Will have to keep an eye on this thread in case a guru has a solution for you.

These are my color settings in CS and and I am showing a comparison like you did. Do your settings look the same? If so I am at a loss as well...

Wow, they are not active at all over on that board. Least if they are, they are avoiding my issue L()L.

Hmmm, I really hope it doesnt' come down to uninstalling and reinstall. That is always a pain )-;

Well I changed my color settings to Working Spaces RGB: Monitor RGB - Sony LCD_Std_D93

It seems to have fixed the issue. Though now the images are sRGB and have to go to the new one. Though simple click to ignore the conflict button L()L

Not sure if this is the right way, but nothing else seemed to work and that forum. Though it seemed like a good idea, I have found to be full of massive amounts of spam and other garbage. Those mods really need to fix things to make it more friendly there. L()L

What do you mean? Are you actually getting an error message now?

Why are you using the monitor colour profile as your photoshop colour space?
