| I have a 50mm 1.8d, 85mm 1.8, 18-70mm 3.5.....what is another good lens I can get for 300 to 500 dollars??????? |

| studio portraits is what I like to shoot!! Using strobes and reflectors etc. |

Tokina 80-200 f2.8
Read the reviews from various sources. Really sharp, great value (if you can get one), and built like a tank. My "Boats" entry was shot with it and I am pleased. You'll see the quality when rollover comes along. Stay tuned. |

| don't know nikon lens, but a 100mm macro would be good. |

save your 300-500 bucks and wait until you can spend for a real quality lens. for that kind of money the only thing you will get that is quality is more prime lenses. primes are great but limited.
i would personally wait until i could afford the Nikon 70-200 f2.8 with your current set up.
if you really want to see quality in a lens thats the one. if you are hesitant about the cost vs quality rent it and compare.

That does make sense.
But if you have to, with the budget and preferences mentioned I'd say take a 35/2 (the Nikkor is pretty good I heard). Great lens for studio body shots (full and half) on a crop camera.
