I am needing a really good photographer for my charity. It's an education-based charity and I will need to set up photo shoots for ball gowns. These can be used for portfolio, challenges, however, but since I'm the sole funder for the charity, I have no $$ to purchase a great camera and set up, nor can I afford a really good photog. I'm hoping someone - or someones - here who might live near me would be able to take the photos at no charge (disc only, no prints, they can use pics however they want) for the charity website. I live in Topeka, KS.

Please let me know at terry@jrrotcformalwear.org

Thanks SO much!

Too bad you are so far away - I would do it in a heart beat - all I do is charity stuff, particularly related to education or kids. For anyone near Topeka I urge you to consider this or for those not in the area I urge you to find opportunites like this. They are great opportunites to grow as a photographer, they can be very rewarding opportunites, and if you do a great job the organizers are very happy to write you a great letter for your portfolio.

Good luck in your search and with your event.

Thank you so much and yes, I would be more than happy to recommend and advertise on our website. Plus, they could totally hand out business cards to the girls and to the schools for more work!!

Is there any way to help from far away?

Well, for photography, not really. I need pictures of the dresses on the models to put on the site so that the cadets may find the dresses in their sizes from which to choose. However other help is definitely needed. Donations of dresses, shoes, wraps, accessories, money, etc.

www.jrrotcformalwear.org is the site. It's the JrROTC Formal Wear Dress Bank. Since the Cadet Ball is a mandatory event for a grade, and many female cadets can't attend due to financial constraints, we try to help them keep their good grade by providing free dresses and shoes for them to attend their balls. Since I'm the sole supporter right now, anything is needed and definitely much appreciated. Thank you for asking! :D

Well, that's kind of a lousy setup! I can see where assistance, such as yours, is quite helpful.

It is. Some of the commanders have taken to allowing the female cadets to wear their dress uniforms, but that's just advertising that they can't afford a ball gown and - well, most teenagers will forgo the grade for pride. :( It's very sad. So I started a dress bank this year so that they can attend, feel good AND get the grade!
