Wow, sounds like they landed on an almost perfectly flat spot, and lined up everything to a t. All they need now is for the solar panels to open and it's all done... |

All the great photographers would have these two in their arsenal ;)
So, we need to wait now for the solar arrays to deploy? how long before we recieve any imagery..
The PM said that the lander is at a 0.25 degree tilt which for all wants and purposes is pretty much level. When do they plan to start digging? |

I just got back from stuffing myself on my neighbor's BBQ ribs and find that there is great news about the lander. I'm thrilled to see that it is down and safe for now. The biggest part of the uncertainty is now over. Go JPL.

Audio is lacking on this video. Is anyone seeing anything different then a bunch of blue shirts talking about something we can't hear?

Nothing much is going on there at this time. They are just waiting for the next transmissions from Pheonix. Be ready for very loud commentary when the voice over comes back, if you have your audio turned up to max.

Ah, I'll have to wait until I get home. This school computer doesn't have the latest Flash player (and it would probably take three hours to download it....). Just managed to see a couple of thumbnails - they're all black and white at this stage, right? |

Many more images currently at this site than at the NASA mission site, though I expect they will even out soon. |

Black and white? How many millions of dollars did we spend and all we get is black and white? I want my money back!

Of course. It gives them that sort of noir look that harkens back to the days of the first movies of martians invading our planet, destroying our cities and enslaving us all. ;-)
I never cease to be amazed at what they are able to do - put a man on the moon with '60s technology, land on a comet, land on mars. Pretty incredible. |

There's tons of info all over the web about this mission, but if you want an easy one stop shop, try Emily Lakdawalla's blog at the Planetary Society's website. Here is a direct link to her blog:
