Ok, I went by the local Ritz and tried out the new Pentax 200D. Compared to my DS, well, they don't compare. It feels better, sounds better, and focuses much more crisply. With the IS turned on, I took a sample shot at 1/10th of a second that was as crisp as a 1/125 with my DS (same lens). I had $100 in gift cards from my birthday, but they were at least $150 over B&H. Ended up with an expodisc instead.
It's only a matter of time. That wallet is burning a hole in my pocket now.. |

I had the K100D, sold it to buy a Cannnon 30D. Sold the Cammmon 30d and bought the K200D! Had not enough money to buy the K20D, but decided I didn't really need it and got the K200D. Got a battery grip from the US for half the price in UK!!
The PENTAX K200D is a great camera, feels good, quite heavy in fact. Weather/dust sealed, as is grip. Dust sensor cleaning. That IS body is really kewl. I love mine, I will keep it until it becomes an OAP (Old Age Pensioner), it might have a big brother one day though.
I have 4 sets of AA batteries, all in numbered cases, so all get used in order.
Are you still reading!! Why?? Go get that K200D! 10 megapixel, weather proofed/dust proofed, IS body! Takes all Pentax lenses, uses SDHC cards. Try using default settings first, much sharper and colourful than Gammon cameras.
I bet Nobody is listening!! |

| Ritz is pretty expensive. I throw them some business for smaller stuff, because I like to go in and fiddle with their toys. They are really helpful and nice, but if I can save some money, I will. |

The 200D is a sweet camera. I tried to convince my wife it was time to upgrade. She gave me that "look", you know that look. I really want to move up to the K20 and pick up the 200 2.8. Guess its time to get some more up on the stock sites.

I have cleared enough in the last 3 months (its just a hobby)to cover it, but I'm getting "the look" as well. Something about a new couch....
I will probably do it this week. Nobody wants a new camera... |

Good things come to he who waits.
Pentax just put a $100 dollar rebate out on the 200d and 20d.
The 200d body is now $529 after rebate at B&H and Adorama.
SOLD. |

That's what I was waiting for! I was all set to save and wait to upgrade to the K20Dm, then took a hard look at the 200D and have decided to go with that one instead. For $600, I can do without live view, 4 extra MP, and a huge burst mode for low quality jpegs. :>P |

Neither of you will be disappointed with the 200D, it is a fine camera with a nice balance in weight (although the battery grip gives it a bit more of a handful:), get one if you can stretch to it, you won't regret it). Hope you enjoy the 200D as much as I am:)) |

You are so right, Mike! After my 300D, I upgraded to the 30D and was disappointed with the results, so I sold it and bought the Pentax K100D. It was a great little camera and I scored my PB with it. Then, earlier this year I was walking around with 1K in my pocket!! A bloody miracle:) and I happened to look in Jessops to see if they had any offers on the K10D. They didn't really, but a 30D caught my eye and I thought perhaps I had been too hasty selling the first one.
Within a week, I knew deep down that I had made another mistake, but decided to keep trying to get my head around the 30D, but it just wasn't getting the results I wanted. So, I put it on ebay. It soon sold, and I then had to choose between the K200D or the K20D.
I decided the K200D was the upgraded version of the K100D, that was good, so that was the course I chose. I got a great deal: Camera/18-55mm Kit lens/Tamron 70-300mm DI Macro/4Gb SDHC card and a Tamron Zoomster bag for £499!!
I have had the camera for about a month now, and with its IS body, weather/dust sealing, 10 mp...I haven't had one blurry junker yet:) I have it set to default and the photos are sharp and richly coloured straight from the camera. Best buy this year. Maybe next year I will get the K20D as well.
There, my life story :)) |

Thanks for that... I would definitely condsider Pentax if I was just starting out now.
P.S. If you need photo gear nip into station cameras on station road and tell them I recommended them to you, they might even give you a discount ! Disclaimer - I have no association with Station cameras, they are just very good at what they do !
