I've been trying this out for a bit now and I absolutely love it. The user interface is fantastic and very well done. I especially like the control points where you can choose where the effect will be focused on or not. It's an intuitive interface and i'm having so much fun with it i'm thinking of buying it but it's 300 bucks for the full version. There's a 100 dollar version but it only comes with about a third of the filters included in the full version.

i've got V2.0 and i think it's great. It actually includes some stuff that's useful which i find utterly remarkable. There are a few gimmicky ones but for the most part it's a great little package.
The only one i miss having is there 'bleach bypass' thingy, that looks rather nice.

There are only a few that I really use on a regular basis. Pro Contrast, Skin Retouching (that may not be the name), Glamor Glow, Vignette and Vignette Blur. The rest it's real hit and miss. Sometimes Tonal Contrast. Sometimes the graduated filter.
It'd be good to find out which ones you use the most and see if the lower cost version has everything you need.

Yes, I'm making a list of what I like and how much use it'll get before making a decision. thanks for the tip. |

ok, i just got V3.0. I think it's ace. The interface is SOOO much better than from the second one and the filters they've introduced are a good help in real world applications and not just for gimmicky stuff.
Definately recommended.

I definitely prefer version 3 over version 2. I also don't use all of the filters, but it is always fun to see what they would do to the photo. The Upoint is a tremendous help. If you like that feature then I also recoomend that you look into picing up Viveza. That is a serisouly beneficial editing tool. You can change the colors of the background without having to do extensive masks. You can bright and darken parts of your image with a mask, it is really awesome. I have used it to help balance out the blues in the sky after using a polarizing filter.
Both of these producst are dfinite recommends. In fact I don't think there is a Nik software that I would recommend. I also used Dfine 2.0 for noise removal and it is equally as awesome.

I don't believe so. The rules specifically state that you can not use any Efex filters.
