Have just stumbled upon some interesting filters for these techniques. Now mind you I had never heard of the fractals until yesterday, so it is totally new to me. Found a program called Tierazon for fractal creations and got it as a freeware. Also found a demo for Fractalius creations from a company called Redfield. Just wanted to share the info for those interested in trying something different. Share your creations if you have any. Mine are not through dp, but I will try to post my first attempts anyway. Anybody use them, and how do you like them? As to kaleidoscopes, I need to create them through photo impact. Does photoshop have something comparable, either as a download or perhaps within one of the more expansive program.

I've used a program called Apophysis (also freeware, at least at the time), which I believe creates images based on fractals. I believe quite a few people use them to create abstracts for stock -- I had one of mine downloaded a couple of days ago.
It's not for editing photos, but for creating math-based abstracts.
Here are a few of mine. Search for them at Shutterstock (by other people -- just search keyword "apophysis") to see more outstanding examples.
