		| | I just acquired a copy of Silkypix Developer Studio 3.0 and after a bit of messing about i'm definitely in the LOVE camp. However, the program is getting mixed reviews, with some knocking it's quirky interface.
So the question is; Silkypix - ill-conceived lunacy or misunderstood genius?

		| | Strong "Like" camp. :-D Haven't spent the time to learn it well enough to "Love" or "Hate" it yet. I like the color profiles, they are quite useful. I purchased a user guide (in PDF format) that goes into greater detail, but have only glanced at it thus far. I'll look for the link later...
The Noise Reduction priority does a surprisingly good job of keeping detail where you want it...

		| | I was flipping up between that and ACDSee Pro. Ended up going with ACDSee but I could see why people would like Silkypix too. Certainly it seemed better to me than other options I looked at.

Looks like an interesting program, I may try it out.

		| | I am using the different Silkypix versions on and off since over 2 years. To be honest, I don't know if I like it or hate it. At first i loved it for its nice job in noise reduction. Then again with a new computer, that ran on Vista, the program got just stuck after 2 or 3 photos, it was exausting and frustrating to use it. In the meantime, now with a mac, I am not sure if i should get Silkypix oncemore or not.

		| | I'm running vista and although it's a ram black hole (running photoshop is like pulling out your own teeth - slow and painfull) Silkypix runs refreshingly quickly. I've not had issues with it freezing at all. |

		| | It's looking like it's doing the same thing as Lightroom or Adobe Camera Raw, why would I use it over one of the Adobe products or is it really just the same thing? |

		| | Looks good but I would like to see a side by side comparision of this software's results to let's say, ACR or Lightroom , Aperture, etc. And that brings up this question.
Is there a site out there that compares different software and their results?

Try this Google search. Going head-to-head with Lightroom is going to be an uphill battle for them I think.

 Feature comparisons, not results...

		| | I gave the trial version a try, but didn't see anything beyond what Photoshop CS3 does for me (or Lightroom) - and therefore didn't see a benefit in adding this to my workflow. |

If you have Lightroom and it works with your camera's RAW files, then I wouldn't even consider it. I tried Lightroom and really liked it, especially the file organization (keywording, etc...) but they weren't 100% up to speed with the Sony .ARW files (for a700) yet. :-(

SilkyPix was one of the best choices at the time (the Sony software is getting better with familiarity also).

		| | Thanks Louis and Glad2badad.
Weird that Lightroom and ACR do not support dual monitors.
