If ya do this and it turns your P&S into a fish tank boat anchor (would require an SLR to make a real boat anchor) then it's your fault... I is just the messenger okay....

For the rest, this looks like it could be some fun :-)

If you are referring to the CHDK hack for the Canon S series, it is not really a firmware replacement. It loads upon startup and does not overwrite anything.

I hacked my D300 to make toast, takes a while to warm up though!

Seriously, did I miss something, this thread seems out of place?

Out of place for what??? I posted in hardware/software forum. The CHDK adds some features not on the base firmware to certain cameras... some people think some of the features are useful, others just like hacking stuff :-)

Sorry didn't mean to offend if I did. I meant that there is or was a thread dedicated to this a few days ago. I thought this might have been meant to be put as a reply there because it seems a bit sudden. Did you just brick your P&S trying to make toast for example? ;)
