Have you tried SpyBot? It is free and has done a great job for me over the years.

However, I found this for you on a SpyBot forum related to "FreedomHiddenWindow:: "In my case the offending program is my firewall/virus protection PCGuard. This displays a little box to tell you it is starting and windows knows that application as "FreedomHiddenWindow"."

Not all spyware checkers remove everything. I use several of them. You can also try Spybot Search & Destroy

For antivirus I run the free version of AVG antivirus. NOD 32 also has one of the best reputations right now.

Though it will not help you right now, I would suggest if you are using internet Explorer, to change to using Mozilla Firefox, and adding in the NoScript extension to block unwanted running of Javascript in your computer. I would also suggest blocking 3rd party cookies.

No measures cover everything, but just doing these things will keep a large proportion of the malware from being able to get at your computer in the future.

jonnie, you can download those programs for free and without spyware from www.download.com, which is part of CNET. You'll probably need to create an account.

I use Ad-Aware 2007. Consider also adding Spyware Blaster 4.0 -- it prevents a long list of known spyware from being installed in the first place.

You should d/l hijack this and try a spyware community forum for help. I helped a friend the other day and had to used some high end spyware removal tool...thank god they were free. I used SDfix and Combo fix but she had very nasty malware that caused her icons to disappear when the machine first started and it killed her task manager as well. There are some sick people out there that write this crap.

Inspite of the crazy name, this removed a hijack trojan that AVG and ad-aware couldn't touch.

I worked a Lady's computer a couple weeks back that had > 30 Trojans, > 1300 Malware/Spyware routines running, many were browser hijacks.

Box was a candidate for rebuild (I leave that to the weekend warriors) but she had some stuff that she could not lose.

Bottom line: Spybot S&D (latest version) found 232 more malware/spyware/pup routines than Adware (latest definitions) bummer cause I sort of like Adaware.

AVAST! Anti-Virus removed all Trojans/Virus'

Eusing (free) Registry Cleaner, repaired other issues (about 1200 inconsistancies).

It didn't happen in an hour cause there was so much crap on it, but the 3 apps above saved her shiznit. Box is running like new and is now protected.

She had one of everything installed on the box and thought it was protected. Zonealarm, Cox Security Center, bits and pieces of McAfee, several spyware type apps. None of it was working, all of it BS promises. If they were working, the machine would have been rendered useless anyways.

All you need is AVAST! or AVG, Spybot S&D (if you are paraniod the new spybot has a resident program...complains every time something tries to write to registry (too much for me)) and possibly a Registry Cleaner.

(as pointed out Hijack this is a great tool for analyzing issues)

Try this free service from Microsoft, which scans for malware, viruses, and others. You can also install OneCare with this ninety day trial for continuous protection.
