I'm looking for a case that is 'waterproof' (ie if I'm in my lil'boat and tip over my camrea wont' get destroyed) and or perhaps I can get some shallow shots underwater? --anyone ever use this case? -- its the most reasonably priced one but I don't want to take a chance of my camera being destroyed.........

The DiCAPac WP-S10 SLR Pack Waterproof Case (Clear/Dark Brown) is a PVC vinyl housing made to carry a SLR camera with a lens attached. The bellows lens system from 2.0-5.9" (5.0-15cm) allows waterproof case to be used with many lenses. It can be used underwater to 16.4' (5.0 m). It is easy to control with the built-in finger sleeve. It protects the camera from water, sand, dust, etc. The housing meets JIS IPX8 requirements for underwater usage. A neck strap is included.

Wow, that sounds like a pretty nice setup-- How outrageous is it?

I'd be interested to hear as well.

I've been looking at this housing, albeit more expensive I've found e-people who swear by it - not at it.

i've seen it for around 200 or so... 150ish is the lowest but... i just want to make sure someone can tell me that it -is- waterproof and won't leak and that they've used it (before I go risking my expensive camera and lenses inside of it and wreck them u know?) anyone use them!???

It looks interesting. I found some reviews here and they specifically mention difficulties with the d80 (which we both have). It seems unfriendly to zooms, and one person had trouble with seeing the viewfinder (though that was apparently when fully underwater).

As a protective case, though, it sounds reasonable at $119

I would like something like this for Seattle shooting in the rain--though a Kata rain sleeve seems like it might allow more full function use of the camera. But for boating and the beach, etc, this sounds like cheap insurance....

Let us know if you get it and what you think of it.

Cheers
