My count jumped from 1,000 to 7000+ over the week on this image.

how does one find out who's linking to it?

You'll probably have to message Langdon. He may have log files that can show where the referrals are coming in from. I know a writer whose career article I had linked to one time, showed up on a trade forum I belong to. He had seen where the referrals were coming from that were hitting his article, and decided to check it out.

Ya, someone will have to look at the server logs unless they log the IP address when it's requested (while keeping track of the view counts).

I was wondering why there has been so much fur on my keyboard lately. I just walked into the room and caught Cheeko repeatedly refreshing on your image. Sorry, my bad.

That also explains the additions in my Favourites.... Kitty-Porn!

I heard a story about some company that was inline linking an image on their homepage that was on someone else's site and they hadn't purchased rights to. In essence the compnay was infringing this guy's copyright every time someone loaded their page AND sucking up his bandwidth. So, he replaced the image in question with an identically named image of what was described as extreme mooning. The company quickly stopped their illegal linking.

You might consider a similar approach.

It might just be that someone liked your image and posted a link from one of those "stumbled across" sites.

I guy I "talk" to online has his site code stolen and they were too stupid to remove the background link to his server (flash site so hotlink protection was off)... My but those dancing naked men were funny on a real website :-)
