| Why not start the shooting off using a towel wrapped low on the hips as if having had a shower (suitable towel color for the shots). You could then work out suitable poses and when you are comfortable start shooting without the towel. Maybe this would help. |

| Besides getting naked, is there anything he likes to do? Is there any sucluded beaches near you? What about shooting him sitting in the sand, stairing out into the water. I'm sure you could find a flattering angle. |

LOL...really??? At 5'1" and 190lbs on the hoof?

A nudist?
Why not doing something in the nude that most of us would do clothed. Sitting in a chair reading the paper or mowing the yard, something mundane made less so by the fact that the person doing it is nude. |

Just a thought... Anybody consider that you are posting this on the internet? I doubt there are many Juliet´s in Tucson Arizona who does photography and have recently been asked to do a photoshoot like this.
My grandma is 82 and she surfs the internet like nobodys buisness so who is to say if this gentleman isn´t aware of Juliet having a profile here at DPC (wouldn´t dake much google skills to find it if he for example was curious about her work and wanted to find out something about her) and would stumble upon this discussion? |

LOL! Arizona is ALL beach... sand as far as the eyes can see. ;D
I think some head and shoulders would be a good start. :D
And as othes have said, ask him if he has any poses in mind.

I am so happy that I don't shoot portraits as part of my income.
My only advice is to try not to laugh too much. It causes camera shake. I feel that he will have a good sense of humor, from your description of him.

I agree with  Larus and have edited my earlier post out of respect for the possible model.
ETA: The closest person I could find with similar measurements that has picture on the Internet is Danny DeVito. I know he's doesn't weigh as much but his height close. I know he do pose nude (hope not) but the pictures at this site may give you an idea on angle, poses, etc. Not sure but worth a shot. Good luck to you and the client.

I've been following this discussion with great fascination. I would like to strike
a blow for the 'elderly' as we have been tactfully called in this thread, but
 zeuszen did it best (and he's just a kid).
We (the elderly) know the law of gravity has not been repealed - you will also learn
this as you grow old enough to acquire the sobriquet of 'elderly,' - but I digress.
At our age, we're supposed to.
 julietNN you've been given his reasons for this session. Certainly he,
as you describe him, is not an Adonis look-alike, and, since he looks at himself in the mirror
he undoubtedly knows this, still given the advantages of lighting, and other
camera techniques with which you are very competent, there should not be a problem
in giving him images that are tasteful and pleasing.
Now that you have come to terms with what you consider to be the strangeness of this assignment,
I know you will do a tremendous job in interpreting this human being.
Hang in there, kid. It's not all that awful to be, er, elderly.
(BTW - to get a thread reassigned, it's best to send a ticket)

you are right, I have been in the wrong frame of mood for this.
I don't think it has anything thing to do with age though, but more to do with him wanting sexy poses, not that I can not think of any sexy poses, I am just having a problem with trying to think of attractive artistic poses for someone that (basically) is short and very round with large rolls of fat hanging down his body.
I want to do him justice and do this more for him than myself, but for myself as a very challenging situation.
I think that I am going to have to take my inspiration from the renaissance period in painting (18th century?)
