Hey guys, this photo was my first entry here at DPC! I just wanted some general feedback from a few willing members on this photo. What could have been done better, what was good, etc etc. I want to continue to become a better photographer and I'm hoping some of you gents/lady's would be will to help me out in that endeavor. Don't spare my feelings cause I am willing to do whatever it takes to become better! :)

Evan

PS Is my score pretty good for a first entry?

That's darn good for a first entry! My first came in at 5.26, and it's not unusual for someones first entry to be in the 4's. My only suggestion might be related to the inherent lack of a deep depth of field at this close perspective and angel. If you were at less of an angle, more of the disk could have been is sharp focus. That's still pretty decent DOF on a macro shot.

Looks like a string of inspiration going on there, Karen mentioned that here shot was in turn inspired by someone else's.

By the way, regarding your notes accompanying the entry: In order to put a site thumbnail in a post thread or notes, use the second icon from the right immediately above the message box, and enter the image id#. The 4th icon from the right is to post an image that is elsewhere on another site, but you should keep it to the use of small images to keep the forums neat. You can post a thumbnail image with a link next to it to the larger version, if needed.

Awesome, thank you very much Yospiff! I'll keep my DOF in mind as I continue onwards! Also thanks for the tip on the thumbnail link!

If anyone else has any constructive criticism or they want to throw in their two cents by all means go for it! It would be much appreciated! :)
