I spent the morning creating this video from the wedding I shot on Friday. Please.... give me 4 and a 1/2 minutes of your life.... and let me know what you think. :)

I think the photography is excellent. But I have one criticism on the video...

I use Photodex ProShow Producer (essentially the same as ProShow Gold) and to save me some time, I let it automate a bunch of stuff for me. Like randomizing transitions and picture movement. Then I go back and "fix" the ones where I don't like the transitions or the movement. It's usually quicker this way than to try to creatively come up with my own settings for each image.

Anyway, one of the things I don't like about the software is that some of the movements are just "too dramatic". Especially if I'm playing quiet/mellow wedding music. For instance, it may "zoom too fast/too far". Or it may "rotate an image" until my eyes are spinning. Or "pan across the screen" when only a small amount of panning is necessary. These are the kinds of things I go back and either remove or reduce (most rotates I remove, a few I keep and just turn down the amount of rotation).

Anyway, back to your video. I don't know what software you are using, but I felt like you were falling into the same trap. Some of the rotations where just too much to handle. Some of the pans were clear across the screen. Some of the zooms were pretty wild.

If this were a senior session, looking for a dramatic flair, I'd say "go for it" and maybe tweak it even more (something like what ANIMOTO does). The kids will like it. But for a wedding video, it just seems a little too far.

Anyway, like I said, the photography is excellent. My only criticism of the video is that it's a little too much movement.

Thanks, David. I aagree with you about a few of the movements being a bit much. I'm still new to this video thing. ;)

I use ProShow Gold, but I never use the auto functions. I'm a bit of a control freak, ya know. :D

Evening bump?

Just got back from a beach family session and feeling like my brain is sunburned! Don't think I'll be re-making this video today.
