How legit is "NowPublic"? I received an inquiry from them (via my Flickr collection) wanting to use a skyline photo of mine. This one:

I have no intention of "sharing" (letting them use my photograph without payment), but I was just curious about this organization.

Here is what I received from NowPublic (I removed the links to their page because it contains the "Accept" or "Decline" options) . . .

Hi there,

My name is Amy Judd and I work for NowPublic, which is a news gathering organization based in Vancouver, Canada, and I have just highlighted a story about a new study that was released today that defines Los Angeles as a 'third world city' due to the high levels of immigration. I am looking for some photos of Los Angeles to help illustrate the story.

I came across your photos on flickr and was wondering if you'd be willing to share them with us. You will of course retain all rights to the photos and be credited for them. Just click on the link below, to see which ones I have requested, and follow the instructions if you wish to share them.

Thanks so much for your time, and let me know if you have any questions,

Amy

It certainly looks pretty legit -- those are all current stories I see posted.

It seems they are willing to let you specify the license terms -- why not go for it? Sounds like they'll certainly give you credit, and maybe you can arrange for a link back to a print if you want to sell them ...
