The Odd scores here thread has been plaqued with "commenting" issues...so here you go. A thread to talk about it (for the gazzilliont time).

Just a thought but maybe something should be done about this situation.

Two thoughts in response to this quote:
1) Is commenting a requirement at DPChallenge? Not really and it never will be because it's impossible to enforce, and would diminish voting participation if by some miracle a way to make it mandatory was implemented.
2) If you want real comments and feedback on a photo you've entered in a challenge, post it to a thread afterwards for feedback. Generally it's given quite freely then.

I 100% agree with you. I've been getting slammed for not commenting on my low votes on THIS THREAD and while I agree that I need to comment more, I just don't want to comment on people's photographs that didn't care about them in the first place. If you are really interested in feedback, like glad2badad said, post it in a thread afterwards and ask for a critique. If I know you want input, I will certainly give it.

I've got to say... I hate when people dont comment, because that how I learn... having said that I also COMPLETLY understand why so many don't on only need read through the threads from people complaining about the comments they did get (whether they just be lame comments or ones they think were out of order or mean) to figure out why som many no longer want to comment.

so the choice to me is clear and I think it's the best way for the site to go. is leave the challenge commenting the way it is, those who want comments can alway post the pic for comment after the challenge... that's what I do anyway.

Most people end up learning far more from the comments they make than from those they receive.
