I'm sorry but it appears I am taking every one else's comments. I currently have 9. It was not my intention and I'll see what I can do to rectify it. :) |

Unless you think that everyone at DPC sucks, I would suspect you have pointy ears. (like a troll)
I just call 'em as I see 'em.

Here we go again. Ok, most of the votes cast are in open challenges. 50% of the shots in open look like "I have a camera, hmm, the challenge is...water, oh there's a waterfountain- 'click'." So yea, low scores ahoy. These are contests, and the people are the judges. So if I think a photograph really has no value, yea, low score. I've given out plenty or 8's. And to tell you the truth, really rarely do I give out a 10, almost never. And that is because I refer to a 10 as the best possible photograph you can take for the challenge, and nobody (myself included) ever seems to have that photograph. For instance, the 'negative' challenge, I gave out a lot of 3's. Go look at the shots. I also gave some 7's, but that's about as high as it got. I don't claim that I could do better in said challenge, but that doesn't matter since I'm not voting on myself.
So if you cant handle a low score, don't submit a photograph that you spent 10 seconds on. If you worked hard on the photograph, and I still gave you a low score, maybe it just didn't do it for me. I'm not out to mess with people, but I will 'call em' as I see 'em" when it comes to photographs.
Sorry for the rant.

Let me put it to you another way. You obviously are a pretty good photographer, even after just 12 entries that is apparent. However you have cast 1233 votes which have an average score given to them of just 3.64! Obviously the majority of your votes cast have been votes of 3 or less. Yet you have only commented on 103 entries. When you place a vote of 3 or less, you are prompted to leave a comment. This is because when people receive a low vote they like to know why, and hopefully can learn from it. In the vast majority of cases you have chosen not to do so. Many folks on this site are here to learn, and you are a good photographer they could learn from.
So if you continue to chose to leave very low scores, at least try and leave a comment on the 3 or less scores and offer your insight and constructive criticism to help others learn from the talent that you have.
When folks get really low scores given to them without any comment, they naturally think it was from someone that is just trying to vote down all the other entries to make themselves look better. That is what we call a troll.
Is that better?

Yes, I agree with you 100%. I don't comment enough. Sometimes I run out of patience. I will try to comment on this challenge. |

This no commenting on photos seem to be a problem with every challenge I have entered. I myself make it a point to comment especially if I do not understand where the photographer is coming from, hard for me to interrupt the challenge. Just a thought but maybe something should be done about this situation. |

i just had a situation a while ago about me not understanding someones photo at all, and i left them a comment saying so and they completely flipped out. i really enjoy giving and getting comments but now i only vote on the photos i like, otherwise i seem to be a "bad person" for not liking or understanding all the crappy photos out there |

Don't let the few that flip out discourage you. Most people like and want constructive criticism. |

I'm very happy that it's doing so well and 6.9 would be a new PB. But it's funny how the mind works. It's been 7+ for the last 4 days and I was really excited that I could possibly break the 7.0 barrier and even win my first ribbon. So when it suddenly drops so much in such a short time I am disappointed. Even though I have no right to be.
My Pollution entry did a similar thing, it was above 7 all week then on the last day dropped to 6.7xxx. A 7+ is an very elusive thing. |

Fell like a rock from the start. Not horrible, but was hoping people would look a little more intently into it.
