Hi everyone, just came back from our holiday and one of my memory sticks threw a wobbly. I have managed to get all of the images off of the stick but approx 300 out of 350 images appear to be corrupt and wont open.

The error is the familiar 'could not complete your request because an unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found' when trying to open in Photoshop. I have tried lots of other smaller forgiving image viewers but no luck.

I have started to resort to looking at the HEX data of the images. I have tried one method of replacing the header of the data with some clean data from another image but no luck.

Some of the files don't seem to have any data at all so i presume they are lost but the majority do have information in them but something has obviously been affected, i just cant see what it is. I have uploaded a couple of files to //www.benandsarahs.com/download

I would really appreciate any help.

Many thanks
Ben

Sounds like the FAT on the card got clobbered and you are not getting all the data for each file. You might want to try recovery programs to see if they can more successfully reconstruct the files. If you are missing blocks of data, pretty much nothing is going to be able to make sense of them.
