I need a good brand 100-150watt 110volt only monolight with fast recycling time. To be used indoors ONLY, but would like to add to that model later.
So in short, whatever model i get i would like to get a 300 or 600watt model in the same brand later.
Can you recommend from 1-3 which are top quality brands?

I think Alien Bees provide a nice balance of quality and value when purchasing your first lights. Anything less in quality can frustrate because of limitations or failures. Anything more is risky when you buy you're buying your first light because you really don't know enough to pick your 'pro' level system yet.

for what it's worth, my first light was a JTL 160. One month after warranty expired and with very VERY little use, it died. The repair estimate was actually more than what it would've cost to buy a new one.
Needless to say, I don't use JTL anymore.
AB's have been quite reliable. |

| Saw some bad reviews on the JTL brand. The consensus on DPC seems to be alien bees. |

Also for what it's worth ... when I upgraded my lights, I went with the JTL 300's. Have not had a moment's trouble with them. I use them in-studio and even take them to wedding receptions to shoot the formals.
I agree, AB's are what most DPC'ers will recommend. I'm just giving a thumbs up on JTL if you happen to consider it.
