Hello all, first post, quite new to digital photography!

I am interested in what you think of this photo:

Hi... I am new here too, but i think it would help if you can 'clean up' your shot....for example shooting it with a black or white background, wiping away the dust on your instrument, removing the 'cloth' at the end of your strings etc... It has a good angle, but I believe such closeups would require a cleaner shot in order to have a good feel...perhaps also more focus...

Thanks for the reply

I did try another 'neater' one, but to me it didn't look right - I felt that the photo shows a real instrument that is in use (kind of like the way I wouldn't alter a portrait for imperfections - I see my violin as a living thing - it has been around far longer than I have, and will live on longer too, I'm sure), rather than a pristine and clean/tidy object - the original wasn't a planned shot (I took it the day I got my camera!) It was a macro shot and was by hand (ie no tripod), so I was surprised it came out at all!

Thanks again for the comment!
