I need help trying find work from a surreal artist I saw while working at an art gallery in high school. Its been almost 12 years but here's what I remember: I believe the artist's name was Psalms but it was not spelled that way. They did amazing paintings with mountains, snow, and light. I know its not much but I wanted to see if anyone has some sort of hint to lead me towards finding their work again.
cheers,

How about some more details?
1. What art gallery were you working at?
2. Do you remember where the landscapes were set (US, region, which mountains...)?
3. What media did the artist work in...watercolor, oil, acrylic, something else?
4. When do you think the works were made...century, decade, before the advent of photography?
5. What nationality do you think the artist was? |

Mark Harden's Artchive has a pretty good database of artists and periods

I worked at Off the Wall in Las Vegas. I am pretty sure the artist was current and used acrylics. The lot of the paintings had mountains. I believe the artist would fall under the surreal because there would be cities in sky or in the side of a mountain. I remember most the colors, lots a greens and blues.

Since it's (probably) a contemporary artist and the work was represented in a retail shop, I'd suggest calling the shop and asking. That will narrow your search considerably. They will also, likely, be familiar with the artists whose work they have purchased (or consigned) in the past. |
