I have a Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P72 Camera
I am currently looking at a wide angle lens that has a .7x zoom. Does this mean that the zoom will actually decrease (Total Zoom x .7= Smaller Zoom, but wider angle) or is it the above plus the total zoom (greater than original)
Here is the lens I am looking at Lens, is it worth it, or should I look at a 2x telephoto? Any comments or suggestions would be very much appreciated because I am pretty new to this photography thing. Thanks!

Mounting the 0.7x converter will change your focal length by a multiplier of 0.7x. So if you have 28-135mm equivalent focal length now (just an example) you would have 19.6-94.5mm with the adapter.

| Which would be batter for Macros, or would it even make a difference? And oh (yes, I am that new to this), what determines the focal length (iow, what does it represent, zoom?). What are some advantages to a telephoto lens and a wide angle lens? Please, enlighten me. Thank you for your time. :) |

Telephoto = increases magnification.
Good for making distand subjects much bigger and cropping out unwanted details. Getting in close to far away subjects. Ex. Animals, single object in crowds, etc.
Wide Angle = reduces magnification.
Good for confined spaces. It has the effect of pushing an object away from you. I will help show more of the sides missed if using the prime lens. Ex. Picture of your room, mountain ranges, etc.
