So here's the scoop: I have a Tamrac Expedition 5 that I keep my gear in and use when I need everything, and a Tamrac Adventure 7 that I use when hiking and for long days, when I don't need everything. Both work well, but are on the large side. And the Adventure, while lighter, doesn't accommodate my Sigma 70-200.

I'm picking up a lot of freelance work now and need a smallish bag that will hold the 30D, 70-200 (attached or unattached), my 28-75mm, and my flash. I've been a Tamrac guy since the start, but am not opposed to other options. The two Tamracs I looked at today (the Pro 5 and the Velocity 8) are both about the size of the Adventure pack I already have, and I'd really like something as small as possible. Any suggestions?

duh ignore that, you have a 5 and the 4 is smaller i think

if you want something pretty small i'd go for the kata R101 or R102. I have the R101 and it can hold all of my gear (not a whole lot, look at my profile) and the main area where the camera goes still has some extra space so you could probably fit the camera with teh 70 200 there. There is a little tripod holder that goes outside the bag that the R101 does not come with, but the R102 does.

I have 3 bags - a backpack which holds a lot (including a 70-200) but I find accessing it a PITA at times since I swich lenses a lot.
I have a large rolling bag that hold everything and then some. I like taking it all with me at times.

For walkaround duty I got a canon bag (no clue the model) but it's similar to what I see PJs use - it's got a shoulder strap that attaches to the bag body, the top can then be opened to access a body and 4 lenses, plus other stuff (a flash fits on top as the bag is deep enough). The top can be clipped shut for security or just velcroed for quick access.

However, a 70-200 won't fit. So when I take it with the small bag I use the carrier thing that came with the 70-200 and just throw that over my neck too. It does help balance me, weight wise at least.

Thanks for the replies so far. keibo84, the kata bags look nice, but are a bit beyond my price range.

I've done some more looking and found that the Tamrac Expedition 3 backpack is about the size I want, and the specifications claim an 11" internal dimension. According to the specs online, the 30D is 3" thick and the 70-200mm is 7.3", for a total of 10.3" So it should hold my body and lens. Does anyone have one of these who can confirm this?
