...when something very important/expensive of yours might be broken?

"chris, what are you talking about?"

I'm glad you asked. So I'm getting ready to shoot my macro entry and remember that I was in need of a sensor and lens cleaning. So like the good little photographer that I aspire to be, I break out the lens cleaning stuff and lock my mirror up and take the lens off. This is where that sinking feeling happens. Laying on the bottom of the mount is this fella, he feels like metal, and about the size of your pinkie nail (little smaller). I haven't a clue where he came from or how he got there. I baby that camera and have never dropped or banged it.

Everything seems to be functioning fine, autofocus and image stablization are fine (that's right, IS in camera, that's because Pentax is a superior product). Optics look fine, I can't find any dings or scratches in the mirror or sensor.

What do you guys think? Send it in to Pentax for repair and resort to my *ist Dl for a few weeks or go with the 'if we ignore it it can't hurt us' attitude?

edit: excuse the poor photography on those shots, they are quickies and for evidence purpose only

you know, maybe my autofocus is messed up, i just shot this two with a tripod and faster shutter speed (so it cant be motion blur)...ARGH.

I was just teasing you, but then looking at your other two shots, maybe it is???

Hard to tell what you are dealing with, as the pictures have no ruler in them to provide a size reference. At first glance it lools like the bottom of the tripod thread hole was pushed out by too long of a screw. For the price of shipping your camera (and the piece), Pentax will give you an estimate for repairs.
