Bought a toshiba sat laptop I am having trouble loading canon 30d software anybody out there know about it. Help would be greatly appreciated. Say not communicating.

A few questions...
a) What do you mean by "having trouble". Please describe, in detail, what the symptoms are.
b) What version of Windows are you using?
c) Have you checked Canon's web site for the most recent update/version of the software you are installing?

| Which software? There are several programs supplied with the camera. I believe some have to be installed in a certain order. |

Windows Vista is the os the software loaded ok but when I try and download from the camera I get a message that that comp & camera are not communicating.

Alright, it's not Vista per sé, since it works on my Vista system.
I'm thinking that it may be in your firewall settings. Did you receive any message about a firewall blocking a process or something?
Did you download the latest software updates from Canon? Click on this link, and then choose Vista from the drop-down list box. There are Digital Photo Professional as well as EOS Utility updates available. There is also a 30D firmware update. Have you updated that, too?

Got it working thanks guys once again awesome. Turned out to be the raw codec had to be updated.
