THis may sound a bit silly, but I am using a font called Calibri (new default font on Office 2007) in designing my webapage. Dreamweaver allows me to specify this font, but will this be seen as intended by everyone, or do most browsers substitute with a different font if it is not installed. Like I said, it may be a daft question, but I am not a web designer and trying to blag my way through designing my own site.
cheers! |

Try this: Microsoft Weft
I don't think users can view fonts they don't have installed on their systems. They'll just be presented with a default font instead.

though you can set a range of fonts that you'd like used. so if they don't have the preffered font, the secondary, tertiary one will be used.
easy to do with a style sheet ( CSS ). not sure about dreamweaver - it's code is pretty cryptic.

It's very easy to create a list of fonts to be used in Dreamweaver. If the user doesn't have the first font, the second font will be used. If they don't have the second font, the third one will be used, etc.
In the Properties tab, click the drop down menu for the text (Image is the letter "A").
Select "Edit Font List"
Click the "+" sign to add a new text list.
Now, in the bottom box, select the primary, secondary and tertiary fonts. You will have to add them one at a time.
Click OK, and now you can select the list as the default for your web pages. |

or depending on to what degree this font will be used(logo, header, links, copy etc.) you could just make an image with the font and use that.
then everyone will see it as you designed. it. |

...except people browsing from mobile devices, blind people using screen readers, people with low speed connections...

According to my husband you shouldn't use unique or newer font types for web design unless you create them as an image. Many browsers will default to a standard font type if it isn't recognized by the browser. |
