| I've upgraded a notch from D70s. Installed Picture Project to enable my trusty PS7 to open .nef files. They really take their time opening up - on average 3 times slower (12 secs against 4) than D70 files to the first screen and about same delay until they finally lay in the editing window. I know file size (I open the full-res) is larger, but 3x slower? Anything to speed that up? If not - is there anything enabling bigger previews of thumbnails in File Browser tab of PS in decent quality? I've just finished sorting 700 pics from a recent trip and to think that this would have to be opened with such miserable speed makes me worry big time. I also tried to follow the discussion about various raw file converters but PS7 is way too old to be mentioned - do I seriously lose in quality of my nefs? I compared a PS-opened raw file and a tif conversion from Picture Project and I can't see any difference, all ok then? Thank you. |

| As long as your using an updated version of Adobe Camera RAW I don't see why you need Picture Project. You should be able to do all the work right in PS. |

ACR doesn't seem to work with PS7. Hence the need for PP base to enable Photoshop to handle .nef

One reason will probably be the file size. D70s are 6mb and D80 are 10mb, so almost double the size, I expect that has some impact. |
