I was shooting an event today in a very quiet room and I had to use my SB-600... what a nightmare.

Everytime it pops, it has to recharge of course... so the high pitch nightmare begins. Is it a "feature" that Nikon thought would come in handy to know when it's fully charged or what?... cause it's oh so annoying. I wish my SB-600 would be quiet.

Am I the only one who's super annoyed of disturbing the silence in a room with this very irritating high pitch noise? :\ Anyone found a solution to this?

how old is your flash and how fresh were the batteries??? I've never really had this problem unless my batteries where starting to fade... also where you using the extra bettery or just the standard 4?

Mine make a little noise but not enough to annoy anyone. The SB-600 doesn't use a 5th battery so that wouldn't be your problem.

When i first got mine, i put in some normal duracell i had lying around, and it sounded aweful. When i charged up and put in my NiMH rechargeables, it went away. What type of battery are you using?

My flash has been like this since day 1. I've always been using Duracell Alcaline batteries... cjoconn22, you got me ordering a set of 4 NiMH batteries with a charger and it's on its way. Hopefully that'll solve the problem! thanks for the replies! I'll let you guys know if these NiMH batteries do the trick...

If it's a high pitched hum as the capacitors charge, it's not going to make a difference what batteries you have. Sorry.
