My daughters gymnastics coach is VERY pregnant. She would like me to do some maternity portraits of her, and hubby this weekend. I have been looking online at various wesites for posing Ideas. What do you use for covering Breasts and the white (sheet?) that appears to be a skirt?? Looking for suggestions and Ideas.

I use different props....hands, see through backdrops srunched up to provide some abstract angles, cropping to just below the nips...different angles of the models...etc.

I like white tulle. Its inexpensive and you can keep wrapping until its opaque enough. Some photographers use white satin, cotton, muslin, etc. Your choice, there is no "right" answer. You could even ask her to wear a white tube top, or a man's shirt unbuttoned... Be creative rather than just trying to copy what you've seen done. The main thing is to keep the client comfortable.

I used our spare bedroom curtains. They are thin and white we just had them draped over the curtain rod, hadn't figured out what to do with them (in the house). I used them like the band of a sling shot. Had my wife hold the two ends and our pregnant friend bunch them up to cover her breast, then my wife took a few steps back. Other shots we did were fully clothed with her wearing a "baby-doll" (I think this is right...I'm a guy and a shirt is a shirt) top and comfortable pants. We also did some when she wore a small tank top (looked like a mans undershirt, but grey) and jeans. We took some with the tank top on fully (a little belly sticking out the bottom), then rolled it a few times to show some skin. Also did some in her husband's dress shirts, one white and one green. Some shots fully buttoned, some buttoned at the breast and open/parted over the belly. I have been working a bunch of these shots up for my DPC portfolio, but haven't gotten around to uploading them yet...I need to do that.

I agree with what has been said before...there is no "right" material, find out what she is comfortable with and raid her closet.

Hope it helps,
-drew
