OK, I thought about this all day and I had myself talked out of posting this, but I'm still angry. I feel that I need to warn everyone and anyone that I can to steer clear of Penn Foster online school. It has been the worst experience in my life! I have 2 degrees already, but they're not doing much for me, so I thought about doing something different. I signed up through my local college for the medical coding and billing program and I had no idea it was going to be through Penn Foster. I've taken on-line courses from the local college before and it was from an instructor from one of the local community colleges, so that's kind of what I expected.
So far my experience with Penn Foster has been nothing but bad. My first couple of courses were a joke, then the next few took them forever to send me my textbooks. They say they send them 2nd day UPS, but it's more like 5 day! In fact I finished 3 of my courses without their textbooks because they took too long to get here and I used a different book and a lot of searches on the internet for the info. My instructors take forever to answer any questions! One of them took a month to answer a question! Now, I'm at a point where I absolutely have to have the textbook because it has the codes in it, and just my luck it's on backorder. It's been on back order for 2 months now. I sent numerous e-mails and finally some poor guy answered them. (I say poor guy because my e-mails probably got shoved onto him, because no one else would answer them!)
I could go on and on but, the point to my rant is to warn everyone to steer clear of Penn Foster for whatever classes you think you may want to take.
Thanks in advance to anyone who listen (read) this. I really needed to get that off my chest.

Which books do you need ??? ICD-9 or CPT... I'm sure there are other places you could get them.. I've coded & done billing for 13 years.. My employer always purchased the books, and if you need, I can find out where they get them from.. I think we would just go straight to the publisher.. Just a thought..

Yea I would do that if I hadn't already paid for the books! I'm supposed to get ICD-9 and the CPT. I thought about buying them from somewhere else, but I wasn't sure that they were all the same. On our quizes the instructor referred to specific pages in the index, so that's why I'm at a standstill. I thought I could go on-line and use those codes, but on-line has no index pages. :(
I really appreciate you trying to help!
