well, the problem with fish is that it'll only work for fish eye shots. you won't be able to get any "regular" wide angles with it.
how about the 10-22mm instead? i really enjoy mine.

its not fast enough its only 2.8, however with strobes shouldnt be so bad... however it is also 150 more, not within my budget...

Here is something you can consider, since you are on the track already. Check out the Sunpak 383 super flash instead of the Vivitar. When I was researching to get a flash, I looked at both. They seem pretty similar, but the Sunpaks, you can probably get for 10 to 15 bucks less each. I've heard a lot of folks speak well of both of them, for the money. I decided on the Sunpak because the head rotates in both directions, adding just a little bit of versatility. I've found it nice to have that flexibility on occasions when I have actually used the Sunpak ON camera.

get the cactus pt-04 transmitter/receiver from ebay, they work great and you'll save around 150 bucks

dont see them on ebay, and im pretty sure id rather stick with the PWs for the sake of relyability and range im going to need a pretty lonng range from 600 feet to even more

Wow. Wish I had been able to afford that stuff at 16.

I would personally wait on the flash meter. I'm just getting started with flash and have gotten pretty good at doing it by trial and error.
