Anyone using smugmug for hosting? How it is?
I ask because there's a photo contest going on at photocamel right now and the first three prizes are smugmug accounts. Not sure if it's worth entering.

There are a LOT of us here that use smugmug. You can check out my account ... it's very simple (I haven't done much customization, but you *can*): //www.dterryphotography.com

I like smugmug alot, customizing is awesome on what you can do, it can be confusing but their customer support is amazing!!! Thats the big selling point for me they really help you out alot. You can check out my website if you like //www.lamontphotography.com looking at my site you can kind of get the idea of what you can do to customize your website. But other than that they have unlimited space for you to upload your images to. They also have a great forum if you are needing help with anything or want to join any of their gtg's or trips.

I'm thinking about creating a smugmug acct, do the majority of you that use smugmug have the pro accts or just the regular ones? I have some shots posted on a site I made with tripod but it's not very impressive... would just like some more opinions or advice. Thanks! :) |

I started with a regular account but then went to the pro account when I wanted to start selling images.

Hi Brandi,
I've had a Smugmug pro account since 2004 and I'm very happy with it. They're a great bunch of people and they're continually adding new features and improving the service. Between the prints and usage rights sales and the discounts from referrals, my site actually pays for itself. And I'm not even a professional photographer.
If you signup for an account, use my personal coupon code (qzDagz7w1S78w) in the 'Referred by' field on the signup form and you'll save a few bucks. More importantly, it will also save me a few bucks. :)
You should also signup for a free Digital Grin (DGrin.com) account. DGrin is Smugmug's tech support web site. There's lots of info and help available on setting up and customizing your own Smugmug site. They also have photo contests with prizes.
Then stop by my site (micknewton.smugmug.com) and say hello. If you add yourself to my friends list, I'll send you an invitation to join the DPChallenge photo community. It gives you another place for your photos to get more exposure on Smugmug.

Yes, one look at jauburn's profile shows this is just advertising. Well, I guess there's no rule against it, and people might be interested in knowing, so...
