Are there any really good websites that teach the basics of photography. I mean I would like to be self taught, no actual classes but I also would like to have an understanding of the terms that are being used on this site. |

dpreview has some good basic terminology under ''learn/glassary'' which I found helpful. |

Here is a forum thread that list the meaning of most of the abbreviations you will find here. Some of them are photography terms you can learn about elsewhere, while some are common online shorthand or DPC specific terminology.
You might also get a lot out of this thread: The unauthorized beginners guide to DPC I was here a few months and figured most of this out on my own before I ran across it. It's a humorous, but truthful as well.
And you will eventually wonder how some of us know what the exact votes we are receiving in challenges are, so here is a link to the tracking spreadsheet thread
Also checkout the tutorials page right here at DPC. Lots of good stuff on the basics.
Welcome to the loony bin that is DPC!
