Is it related or not that immediately following that story was the following:

If Kodak were to abandon digital, as it seems some of it's major shareholders want it to, it will wither and die as film does. |

On the other hand, if they can survive as the major legacy film provider, they may still have a viable niche market there. There are still people making money with letterpresses, even as offset printing is being displaced by toner-based technologies. |

I don't think that serving that niche will do any good for the dividends.... In a few months the film producing bit of Kodak will be a loss division, unless they make it significantly smaller and write off a huge summ of assets and people.
Digital, digital press (Heidelberg-Kodak), paper and good mass-pleasing camera's are the right direction.

All films are still filmed on Kodak film aren't they? With a few exceptions which are filmed in digital, I can think of "28 Days Later" as an example. I expect this is still a major source of income for Kodak, and I don't expect the company will die out completly.

I was a bit surprised that they recently announced that they "will no longer continue advancements in print film". Kind of says they're going digital, no? |

I just saw The Little Vampire on videocasette, and it was originally shot on FujiFilm. |
