Anybody know what happened to Leroy? I just happened to be looking up his dp name (fotoman_forever) and it came up as cancelled. I've been away for awhile so it appears something went down while I was busy with other things. Unless he cancelled it himself. Can you do that? Ask to be removed from the active lists? Anyway, I didn't write down his website photo site and wondered if anybody could direct me to it.

oh... yeah he is gone...

Read the thread and it still doesn't answer WHY?

I just noticed his account was canceled yesterday, I assume it has something to do with the suspension and his disagreements with the reasons behind the suspension. There was definately not much calm before the storm. Put it that way.

Actually, his leaving was a huge part of his plan to get more recognition for his work.

It was a public relations trick basically.

He hooked up with a recent lotto winner out near his neck of the woods, and was offered big money to do a photo shoot.

What I know, and don't know are both vague, but the shoot has something to do with naked women, cheese and a book deal, leading into a gallery show, and a world wide tour.

I understand, however, he threw away his SLR, and the money was so good he bought a brand new Hassleblad, a 10 ton truck full of lighting equipment, and has a full time staff of two assistant's.

That's what I heard...but you know how that grapevine is after awhile.

Well, thankyou for all the info. My curiousity has been satisfied. I guess that even though he did not violate the rules individually when taken one by one, I can see why the suspension was put into place. I will definitely e-mail him, but if he is as busy as they say with his new "job" then I am sure he will not respond. (lol) Anyway, I will definitely miss his rather bipolar discussions. Maybe that is the problem. He just needs drugs to control manic depression. Or a good lay.

You mean once your in, there is no way out? Kind of like the Hotel California, unless of course you are fotoman_forever. Must have had to cut a hole in the fence to boot him out.

Leroy was suspended for six months. After that, he would have been welcomed back.

He asked to have his account closed several days after the suspension started.

I was going to enter this in the last free study and dedicate to Leroy. For some reason I can't quite explain, when I saw this I thought, "Leroy would love this shot!". ;-)

Surely that's not a real animal is it? You could almost turn it upside down and the prominent features would be in the same place!

Leroy was suspended for abusing the PM system (direct attacks on other photographers), which certainly DOES violate the rules. The choice to leave for good was his alone.

He is real and was just hanging out, as it were, at the zoo in Singapore.

There was a group of adult students there at the time. The instructer was talking about the species, turned around and saw this dude, and said, "He's a fine example of the (turns around and looks at him once more to be sure) male of the species." The class cracked up.
