In a way, it was kind of an honor for several of the photos that were DQ requested: it meant I was baffling people as to how could I have possibly done that!

I got a DQ request once. I was thrilled. That meant that I was able to do something with a picture, legally, that others thought I needed to do illegally. Of course it was on the "No editing" challenge, adn there were a lot of DQ requests from what I remember, so maybe it wasn't htat big an honor.

Anyway, my point is -- If your shot is legal, what's the big honkin' deal. Submit what they ask and move on.

that's not fair to the procedures in place though...this would have been over in five minutes and if you had spent all the time you spend blabbing on getting things worked out through the dpc avenues in place, you wouldn't have a chance to get so insane. what is so hard about following procedure?

not sure why no one has pointed this out yet, but it makes no sense to ask the person to 'validate' their photo via PM, since we aren't supposed to be discussing individual photos with voters until the voting is complete. it removes objectivity.

the whole purpose of the DQ request is to have it either validated or disqualified sans subjective opinion.

is there a ribbon for complaining, because i think we have some worthy winners here.

Lets not lose sight of the fact, that members of the site council are trying to maintain the integrity of the site, and IMHO are doing a good job of it. I think these people who invest their own time and effort in this site should be thanked. And where possible users should aid them in this task. I know its kind of annoying to have your photo recommended for DQ but it seems a small price to pay when you consider the benefits of the site.

I no longer see any useful purpose being served by this thread.

The original poster achieved resolution. The rest has degenerated.

The system here is what it is. It works great 99.9% of the time. It has gotten to the point it is at now because of a great amount of discussion by all the users of the site.

Until there are serious reasons to revamp it, which of course, are perfectly welcome to be discussed and entertained calmly and logically, it's staying the way it is.

Thanks.

just adding a thought here. From what I understand: a process was used on a challenge submission, legally, that others have used in the past. The photographer's position is that since this process has been used before in a legal manner, it should not be questioned when it is used now.

I further understand that this same process can be accomplished in an illegal manner.

My thought is this: If rules are not to be enforced, we should do away with them entirely. If we say that because a process has been done legally before we will no longer question that process, what is to stop the next photographer who uses that process from doing it illegally?

We can't have it both ways. The rules for submitting photos on DPC are what makes it unique and challenging and this is the reason most of us are here.

As far as I know, no one is being singled out to be DQ'd. And since it is part of the process that makes this site work so well, well.... compared to being audited by the IRS, it ain't a bad thing :)
