It looks pretty good to me based on a trial account. Fast viewing and easy to upload images. They use MPIX and Easy Prints Lab as their printing service, which seems fine, as I've heard good things about Mpix.

Any word on them?

My trial gallery

I'm not actively using Zenfolio, but they have a 'pro' option coming and I am definitely going to consider moving there when it's ready. I like their overall design and the option to use mpix.

I'm curious about this "pro" option?

Seems like a good company. I had a problem uploading, wrote them a letter and got a response within minutes. Purdy cool...

Anyone have other portfolio site suggestion before I take the plunge with Zenfolio?

Here's my updated gallery. How does it look and navigate?

I like it, simple navigation, easy to use. BTW love #5 and#16 on the street section.

I really like their setup, and as soon as their pro option is up and running, I'm going to give it a try, and hopefully move over for good. The hosting I have now is a pain, and Zenfolio looks much, much better.

I love your food photos. Is this what you do for a living? Those dishes look professional. I'm bookmarking your portfolio.

I have had a zenfolio account since February.

I love the site, the way it all works, the slideshow feature, etc etc etc. I have written to them a couple of times with questions and got VERY quick responses.

I don't like the fact that they are taking much longer implementing new features than they originally said they would.
Before I signed up, I showed them my little "wish list" and was told that yes, those would be done within the next few months, but still haven't been done. However, they again told me they will happen soon. We'll see.

Mostly I am very happy with the site.

I do editorial work and have had some food shots in Marie Claire, New York and In New York Magazines, plus a few web site things but I'm not quitting my day job just yet. I've been shooting food for 9 months so I don't have enough clients to do it solely for a living. In time perhaps.

So...Zenfolio, it is! Thanks for looking but if anyone has had any weird experiences with them please chime in, I'll wait a few days before I officially sign on..

Sorry for bumping an old thread but I needed to ask a question and did not want to start a new one.

I have been looking for a graph that compares Zenfolio with smugmug. Is there one?
03/14/2008 12:02:10 PM · #13
If they'd have Adorama as a print option, I might use them. Mpix is good enough but I have had a lot of happy times with Adorama....

ETA - can do so under their options:

Offer for sale your own custom products
You can setup and offer for sale your own custom products.
Zenfolio will take the order and send it to you, you will be responsible for collecting payment and fulfilling the order.
If you do your own printing, or use a local lab, this is the most flexible option.
There is a 6% service fee charged on all custom orders.

nobody huh? Well any good/bad things to say about Zenfolio?
03/14/2008 05:00:11 PM · #16
I just checked what I had to say about them way back when....... I was happy then, and I am still happy now.
They have implemented a number of new things now, and are working on more of them.
The quality is still great, and I have never seen the site "down".

Sorry, I can't help with a graph.

Found the chart

It was Exposure Manager that had it: //www.exposuremanager.com/scripts/website.pl?rm=compare

Still would like to hear the pluses to Zenfolio compared to smugmug and Exposure Manager.

I like Zenfolio but I can't help you with a comparison. I think the look of my page and the way it handles is great

I just went to look at your photos and basically found it unusable. It was way too slow to load thumbnails and photos and I gave up.

How is different than something like Flickr, Smugmug, or Photobucket?

Huh? WHOSE photos did you look up? Somebody's Zenfolio gallery?

I'd dearly love to know who you are talking about because I have never found it to be slow!

I'm uploading 153 megabytes as we speak so that may have slowed down my page. Usually it's a very fast

I also like that there's a little thumb gallery on the top right of each page which flickr for example, doesn't have.

I also went to pawdrix's page earlier and it was super slow. I closed out of firefox it took so long to load. Could have been that you were uploading photos.

I would still like a comparison and may try zenfolio for the free 14 days just to see for myself.

Bump

I'm curious to know how the site is operating...

My Zenfolio Folder

Please, if any of you get a chance, try the site and see if it's navigating slowly, if you have a High Speed connection, especially.

They've added some new features which could be gumming up their server. If things are happening slowly, I'll need to write them asap.

Thanks for your help.
