In some ways it might be an advantage.... with the apparent sample variation, it might be good to have one that has been checked out by Canon. I think they still have a 90day warr but not sure.

Well...I jumped in and made the order. I ordered the Canon 17-55 2.8 IS, got overnight delivery (from Monday, so I'll get it Tuesday), and a 2 yr. Mack Warranty. I believe I got a good deal. A pretty good combination of a good price but from a known source and with some warranty coverage. I purchased the warranty because the refurbished only comes with a 90 day warranty. I've read a lot about the warranties, with some mixed results. The price, however, was very low so I went with it.

This lens will be very nice to have for our Easter event at church. We have terrible lighting in our church and this was one of the reasons I wanted a lens like this.

I ordered a refurbished Canon lens from Adoroma about a week or two ago. I love it, it is prefect. I have had no problems! Congrats on the new lens.

I bought two refurbished canon lenses from adorama. 70-200 f2.8 IS, and my 100 f2.8 macro. Both are flawless and very sharp. I have been very happy with them, and saved a few bucks.

The thing about buying refurbed lens from Adorama, is that you need to look at wether it states, refurbed by Canon, or just refurbed. Any and all lens that says refurbed by Canon I would buy in an instant. I'd hesitate alot to buy one that just says refurbed.
Matt
Edit to fix my wording.

Most refurbs have the same warranty as the new item. If this is true with the lens you are looking at the savings may be worthwhile.

Actually, this one is refurbished by Canon, but Adorama says only comes with a 90 day warranty. New warranty would be 1 year, I believe. |
