If you have a smugmug pro site set up I have some questions.

I plan to create a gallery for the photo sessions that I do and have the family/person use that gallery to choose their portraits. I will set my pricing there, but if I offer a package deal up front, how do you handle them choosing their photos for the package?

Should I just email them with the link and pw to the gallery and have them email me back with their portrait selections (i.e, file names etc..)

I also offer Canvas prints that cant be ordered on smugmug so that would have to be handled the same way as the package deals.

I use SmugMug. As far as I can tell you can set the pricing for all of your stuff, each gallery, or each photo in a gallery. I do not think there is any way to set a 'package' price. I wish there was because that's really what everyone asks for.

Once you set prices in a gallery, it's easy to copy those prices to another gallery, and then even customize individual prints.

Everything is great with their service. I am with them over 1 year and didn't get any complaints....after I tell them there are no packages.

Can I price each gallery at a different price?

yes you can...... also packages maybe sometime in the future... I am a smugmug user as well and lots of people have requested packages.

Also if you are interested you can also put coding into your website to use paypal or google checkout.....This way you can have custom prints, from what ever they maybe framed prints to you own packages that you out together. I use google checkout for one of my galleries which are displayed and for others that are not displayed on my site.

Yes. A matter of fact, I set up family pricing, friend pricing, and regular customer pricing. When you create a new gallery, you can use the quick pricing feature to copy the prices from an already exisiting gallery.

Added by edit: Once you set up the gallery, you can always go in and mark up individual photos...say because you had to spend time touching them up.

My family pricing is 10 times more than regular customers! (It should be)

Also, they give you tools to make the pricing easier too. You can, start with the base price, add a fixed amout for each photo, them mark everything up 100%.

Remember they keep a percentage of your sales.

I don't use smug mug but have a similar situation with no special package pricing with the proofing site I use. I have packages in a brochure and on my website that they can choose and they pay that price at the sitting. I give them a credit voucher and send them the code within 48 hours. They then have complete freedom to choose the same sizes in the package, or if they change their mind they can and I let them know that...the code is for $$ amount purchased not specific sizes.

Use Google Checkout to create PACKAGES and offer COUPON CODES!

Several people have asked for package pricing options for their Smugmug sites, and I bet it will be available soon. I'm surprised that it isn't already because they're constantly adding new features and improving the service.
