Halp!

I'm feeling really uninspired lately. Usually I give it a few days and I can go out and see things again like a photographer, but lately I can't. Maybe it's feeling discouraged or something, but does anyone have any ideas on how to become inspired again?

Buy a boquet of spring flowers and put them near a sunny window.... Study the whole boquet, study each flower, study how the light moves across each, study the shadows opposite the window. I could waste a day..... :)

Edit: I call it Phototherapy. Cost $5.

Well time changes tomorrow night giving most of use more daylight hours. More daylight hours means more time in the evenings for photography. In the winter when it gets dark around 5:30 to 6:00 PM always gets me, especially my photography. So take advantage of the extra daylight hours starting Sunday.

1) Take a break from it?
2) Lock yourself in the bathroom and don't come out until you find 50 interesting photos.
3) Pick some random members on DPC and look at their stuff to get ideas.

Go out without your camera -- that's usually when I see things I wish I could take a photo of. :-)

Then let them die and study it some more :-Þ

Thanks a lot! I actually did get quite a few photos with the bunch of flowers I got. Also, I did lock myself in the bathroom, but my results were not family friendly, hahah.

Good ideas. Really like Prime-Time's idea to let them die - maybe stages of wilting/maturing/going to seed. Julie Hecht's Do The Windows Open is about a woman who makes a living mostly photographing flowers in all stages of decay. A bit zany/weird, and its not really about this, but about such a person who does this.

off topic.. but where do you live in nj?

Take a look in the mirror. What do you see? Now pull a few faces. Do you feel a giggle or laugh coming on? Right...there is a fun subject right there...yourself....now set up the camera with your remote or self timer. No tripod? Set it on a small bean bag on the table...now start pulling faces. By the end, not only will you have some fun shots and have some new ideas...but you will also feel happier within yourself and feel more confident and inspired to look for more subjects.

I am uninspired to enter challenges because all the crappy votes people give.

I liked your 'Milo' shot for the B&W in Color challenge.

I was going to say, take a kid along with you to someplace new or not recently visited (that's kid friendly - i.e. not a bar. LOL) - then I noticed your profile age...probably don't have any kids yet. :-) Have any younger (under 10) siblings? Maybe a niece or nephew? Sometimes the things kids pick out and how they see the world can really be an eye opener, especially when you kneel down to see it from their perspective.

Just a thought. Good luck!

Focusing on how people vote isn't going to help. Here's what I suggest- look through magazines and web-pages that feature photography (or images, at least). Find some that you really like. Explore why you like them. Try to use this in your work. If you can turn your photographs into what you truly like - that will be inspiring. Forget what voters think.

EDIT â€Â¦ PS: If you need to know how something was done, the forums are always a great way to research that also.

That's not the problem I'm having. The problem is I have a fairly good image and it's getting voted down.

This is what happens when you're at the mercy of the Masses.

This is wholly off-topic. If you can't post on topic, please refrain from posting. And as an aside, I think due to your prolific posting on this very issue of "troll voting", EVERYONE knows how you feel. Give it a rest.

Try joining us on a Walkabout! Lack of inspiration was the reason I started doing them in the first place. ;>P

OT post. Apologies!

I hope you feel inspired by the great suggestions in this thread thus far!

I'll 2nd that. Happens without fail every single time I go anywhere & leave my camera at home. I hear the Fates laughing when it happens, too.
