I was going to submit this for the Light challenge but realized the date was wrong. The challenge for me was getting eyes...I am babysitting this six-month old Bouvier and wanted to have a portrait for her owner. Would it have been appropriate for the challenge? Does it work?

Sorry to tell you.. for me it does not work. :(

I don't have a suggestion, as it would change the image in its entirety.

Since you are babysitting, try again? :)

I agree with KarenB. I think you would have been torn to pieces :(

May I ask how you (in the friendliest way) would have linked this shot to the Lighting challenge? I'm curious... as always :)

I suppose it was a sort of personal challenge but, have you ever tried to photograph a long haired black dog and get eyes? It requires some playing with light among other things...thanks for the feedback from both of you. Guess it's a good thing I missed the date. Anne

Shoot from a much lower perspective -- this is supposed to be a portrait. You wouldn't shoot a portrait of kids while standing on a ladder ...

Position the dog between (at least) two lamps and avoid using any flash, and try to have a solid, neutral background. She looks like a good dog who would let you set up the shot and brush the hair aside from her eyes at the last second. Use a tripod and timer and sit close enough to reach her for some last-second posing "direction." If your camera has a burst or sequence mode which can be initiated by the timer even better.
