Apparently brand new Cannon 400D incl. EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens Kit for £210...seems ludicrously cheap, nearly half the price of the next cheapest seller. Its from a seller called Electromart on Amazon.co.uk Will I be in anyway protected if I get a box full of broken camera pieces?
I'm extremely suspicious, especially as the same seller is flogging the camera body alone for over £500. I really wanna go ahead and order this but I cant shift the feeling I'm about to get conned. But if its legit and I don't I'll end up buying a 400D at twice the price and having to put up with the cheap nasty lens for ages.
what do u guys think worth the risk?

| How suspicious? Very! You will probably find that should you order it, you will have to speak via phone during which time they will try selling extra items and if you don't go with them, you will be back ordered forever! |

| Thanks guys. I guess I already knew it was to good to be true. Guess I'll just save my pennies for a few more weeks. |

Think thats the best idea and whilst I'm sure there are legit offers out there you should really be wary of brand new items so much cheaper than street value. |

Why not buy a used one, there are quite a few about? I am sure a low click model will serve you long enough, until you feel ready to do a body upgrade.:) |

Go to the Canon Outlet on e-bay. That's the cheapest way to get a legit 400D that I know of. A number of bodies (only) went recently for about £260. All fully working and quality tested, and sent to you in sealed Canon boxes.
I've bought a reasonable amount of kit from there and never been disappointed. In fact it's the first place I would go to for Canon kit in the UK.

I second that, I was thrilled to bits with my refurbished 350D from there. |

| General rule of thumb from someone who's been a PI: If it sounds too good to be true, it is. That applies to everything. Fraud is a huge crime that often goes unreported cause people don't want to look stupid admitting they got caught out. Be careful out there! |

| Thanks for all the help guys, you've saved me money and kept egg of my face. The Cannon outlet looks like I could get a great bargin and I'd have never trusted a ebay seller without your stamp of approval. |

With the money you save you could get a 30D instead of a 400D :- )
Remember to tell us what you buy . .

I've just ordered a 400D from the e-bay cannon outlet on friday £285 with the standard 18-55mm lens. I think the 30D would have been to much for my first SLR.
Hopefully it should be here early next week I've booked Wednesday of work to have a good play around with it before spending Easter weekend capturing every image I possibly can. I'm bubbling over with ideas and anticipation.
Think I'll settle into the camera before I choose a new lens, but u can bet I'll be digging through these forums for advice.
Thanks again! I always thought asking people more knowledgeable/talented than yourself online only resulted in boasting and taunting. I'm amazed by the genuine interest and support offered by this community. |

Its here and just in time for my day of!! I wanna start taking right pictures now....but I forgot to buy a compact flash card. so I'm gonna have to make the 2 hour round trip into Manchester to get one and then start shooting back at home. although I have every intention of snapping the odd unsuspecting commuter/busker/police horse on my way.
Don't suppose there's any internal memory or alternative storage media I could use tonight just to get to grips with it?
